Venners FC proudly took part in this years HACCC football festival in support of the charity, Springboard. 72 hotels, restaurants and suppliers took to the field on a damp and overcast Sunday in Chiswick, West London to face off against the best footballers the industry has to offer.
The day was all about the football, but other activities included face painting, Zumba demonstrations and beer tasting as well as a 200 foot bungee jump for one player from every team. This brilliant event raised almost £8000 for Springboard, which goes towards helping young, unemployed and disadvantaged people find sustainable work in the hospitality industry.
Venners FC battled valiantly through the group stage against a lack of fitness, better opposition and the elements to leave with heads held high, having made it to the knockout rounds despite conceding a raft of goals. Next time round Venners will surely recruit their Scotland-capped stocktaker/goalkeeper for the tournament.
