How long have you been with Venners and what’s your current role?
“I am currently in my 10th year with Venners. For the last 14 months I have taken the role of Regional Business Development Manager for the North. I am responsible for approaching new customers and helping to guide them on finding an appropriate stocktaking solution for their business.”
What’s the best part of your role?
“I couldn’t mention just one! There are number of challenges I enjoy in my role, networking and meeting new people, visiting some truly wonderful locations and gaining great satisfaction from seeing new clients benefiting from our services, to name but a few!”
What’s the most challenging part of your role?
“My role currently involves auditing for 50% of the time, so when I have a number of new customers to liaise with as well, the organisational aspect of the job can become pretty challenging! Thankfully I receive fantastic support from the Regional Management team.“
What was your background before joining Venners?
“I have close to 30 years experience within the hospitality industry, ranging from pubs to clubs and hotels. I also previously owned my own company supplying products to the hospitality industry, which really helped me to understand the needs of the industry and prepared me for the sales aspect of my current role.”

Describe a typical day on the job
“As an RBDM, my day usually starts around 7am with my phone & laptop up and running, I spend time during the morning reviewing the trade press and preparing quotations for enquiries that I can receive during anytime of the day. I may also have meetings with a potential new customer ensuring that I have all the relevant information required for the customer’s needs or requests. “
Why do you like working for Venners?
“I really enjoy working for Venners, I have had many a challenge and have had great pleasure in helping our customers thrive and develop, and every day has different challenges, you never get bored!”
What would your colleagues say about what it’s like to work with you?
“I would like to think that they all enjoy working with me as much as I do with them!”
What’s your proudest accomplishment at your job?
“To be honest, I am proud of everything I have accomplished as a RBDM, but I don’t really dwell on what has passed, I try to remain focused on the future, the past forms part of your experience and knowledge.
Tell us a little bit about your life outside of work?
“I enjoy travelling, and try to jet off somewhere warm and sunny whenever I get the chance. I am also a mad Evertonian!”
What was the first drink you ever had and what’s your favourite drink?
“Thanks to my Grandmother, my first drink was Stones Ginger Wine. My favourite drinks at the moment are Gin & Tonic or an Irish Malt.”
