Over the next few weeks we would like to start introducing some of our great people to you. It’s easy to get caught up in the technicalities of our services, but behind everything we do are a host of incredible individuals who work hard to ensure that the services we provide are always of top quality. Today we’d like to introduce you to one of our field agents Angela Laycock!
How long have you been with Venners and what’s your current role?
“I’ve been with Venners for nearly 14 years now as a stocktaker in the London & South East region.”
What’s the best part of your role?
“The best part of my job is helping clients improve stock control and meeting new people. It really can be very rewarding seeing people improving their businesses.”
What’s the most challenging part of your role?
“Probably the most challenging part of the job is that It’s so very different each day and that no day is the same – you never know what to expect!”
How did your education or past experiences prepare you for this job?
“Before I worked for Venners I studied at Exeter University and then was a wine bar manager for Davys for 7 years – this definitely enhanced by product knowledge in so many ways! Stock control was also a key part of the job which sparked my interest in this area.”

Describe a typical day on the job
“There is definitely not a typical day to the job. As I mentioned before, no day is ever the same, which is part of the reason I love the job.”
Why do you like working for Venners?
“I absolutely love my job and have made a lot of great friends over the years. I love helping clients and playing a little part in helping improve businesses.”
What would your colleagues say about what it’s like to work with you?
“They definitely would say they need earplugs from my talking, but I would like to think they would say it’s also a pleasure. I’ve met some fantastic people in this company and have also gained a great set of friends.”
What’s your proudest accomplishment at your job
“Winning Excellence First about 10 years ago – this was a very memorable moment which I shared with some great friends and all thanks to those who trained me all those years ago.
More recently it would have to be representing the region as part of the Venners Staff Strategy Team and being part of a presentation at the company get conference ‘Forum’ was the highlight of last year.”
Tell us a little bit about your life outside of work?
“With a 9 year old daughter my life outside work is definitely hectic and when there is that little escape from being a mum, I absolutely love baking and cooking – move over Nigella!”
What was the first drink you ever had and what’s your favourite drink?
“The first ever drink I had was Mad Dog 20/20 (that classy drink from way back!!). Definitely moved up a notch with my fave drinks now being a nice glass (or bottle) of Prosecco, Gin or Rum.”
